Stand Up Speak Out

There are many people that we say we trust, people we label as best friends, boyfriend, girlfriend, etc.. As years pass by we find out we can't trust certain  people. There are many people that would lie and try to manipulate people just to find something out. they would try to find things out just to start drama. I call those people messy.  it is both male and females that are messy. we have our males that just want to see a girl fight, and we have our messy females that are just envious or hating on what someone else has.
as years pass we figure out that we cannot trust everybody we thought we could. We also learned that the person we labeled as best friend, was not really a best friend, even your so-called boyfriend or girlfriend can turn their back on you. it is really hard to find someone you could really trust. trust may not be as important to other people but when it comes to me it is something that i would give you with in time, and i do not except people to give me their trust just like that.
people fight because of dumb things. some people may not know what they are talking about but they go on based on what somebody else told them. some people need to learn how to keep their mouths closed.

The Internet Essay

Many people use the internet for a lot of different reasons. There are teens that use the internet for both academics and social reasons. I think that is mostly what every teen uses the internet for, but then again there are those kids that only use it for academics. I do not think that the internet is a safe place. There is no privacy, there are predators, and people making stupid decisions that gets them into stuff.
The internet is open to the world. when it comes to privacy on the internet, I do not think there is any. There may be websites that say you can make private, but there are so many other websites that people discover or create to be able to go into your so-called private page. There is no privacy in the internet just by its name, "World Wide Web" (www.), it is open to the world that says it all.
Posting things on the internet may seem cool but that is before they get in trouble for the decisions they made. "Many students post pictures if themselves holding cans of beer, and bottles of liquor--even when they are underage." I think that this depends on the person. Not many students do things like this, but then again there are many that do. There are many females that take pictures being have way naked and they posted in online, but little do they know it could come back to haunt them. When they get older and wiser they well realize the decision they made was dumb, but cannot do anything about it now.
There are many child predators on the internet looking for little kids, young adults, or even adults. "Earlier this week, two men were indicted on federal charges that they used the internet to have sexual contact with girls from Connecticut."  I think that if you have a facebook or a MySpace or any other website like those, then you should only add or request people that you know, because you never know what the person wants or what type of person he or she is. There are many predators that make fake profiles so that they could talk to little kids, they talk for awhile, then they make a plan to meet somewhere, and that is when the kid gets kidnapped.
I use the internet for both social and academics. I talk to people that I know, not strangers! When a person tries to add me as a friend I just ignore them, because like I said before I do not know what the person wants or who the person is, and I'm not trying to find out. I take my academics seriously so I do my school things first. I think that whoever uses the internet should be careful and be smart about the things that they post or say on the internet, the world is not safe, let alone the internet.

The Crucible Essay

In many highs schools, there comes a time when we have to read plays either the famous Romeo & Juliet, or other plays. In my class we read The Crucible. This book is an interesting, exciting and a very dramatic play. the author of this book is Arthur Miller. In the play every character is important, but the most important characters are John Proctors and Abigail Williams. There is  protagonist in this story and it is the person who commits an action which well sooner or later lead to his or her defeat.
The main character John Proctor in my eyes, is a good man, yet he had a some strong feelings for Abigail. Those strong feelings which were sexual desire for Abigail Williams, led to affairs with her. They had a trail because she accused John's wife for doing witchcraft and that was not allowed back in those days. Once the trials has begun , John knows that he would have to admit and confuse to the affair him & Abigail had in order for her to stop her violent acts.  John tries to call Abigail as  a fake person. He tried to call her a fraud through a testimony without letting the true information come out. John was a man who likes to keep himself looking like he did not do anything wrong ever, he liked to keep his reputation clean. He fails in trying to frame Abigail as a fake, fraud person, so instead he calls her a whore. In the book this line "How-do you call heaven! whore! whore!"(220). John only confesses when he gets arrested and is found guilty, and is convicted as a witch. They give John an opportunity to make a public confession of his wrong doings. He had written an confession, but he rips it because he wants to say his name. He say you took everything from me, let me just have my name. By him refusing to give his personal integrity, he says that such value will take him to heaven. Elizabeth says at the end of the story in response to Hal's plea "he have his goodness now. God forbid I take it from him"(240).
Abigail Williams is another main character in my eyes. She is a very good liar and she manipulates her friends into doing what she wants them to do. In the book she says "My name is good in the village! I will not have it said my name soiled! goody Proctor is a gossiping liar!"(172). Many of her lies lead to nineteen innocent people who have died due to her lies. She is an unmarried girl and since she had affairs with John she decides to take advantage. It does not take much but a simple accusation from one of her troops is enough to convict and arrest any person in Salem, even the most well known person in that city. After that is done she has the opportunity to accuse anyone of the worst sin ever created which was devil worship.
Plays like this is kind of hard to compare with others because usually, the plays that I know of usually have to do with romance and things of that sort. One that comes to mind is The Tragedy of Julius Caesar, it was a play I read back in the ninth grade. The characters play a big role this play, the protagonist is known as the hero, yet he dies due to a downfall that occur.  Over all I really like this play even though at the beginning I found it boring but like that saying don't judge a book by its cover is what I exactly did but I know now that I should not.

Winter Break

This year for winter break, I spent alot of my time with my brothers. My mom was off of work for two weeks so she took my brothers and I shopping. I also went to to basketball games because my brother is on the team. I also spent some time with my friends, that i have not seen in forever. I really enjoyed that because I miss them. There was sometimes when I had nothing to do, so I was just bored. In the last days of my break, I got my nails done, I also cut my hair, it was just another dolled up day.

Academics

Academic is very important in life. I think it determines your future. If you are advance in your academics you have better choices of what you want to be when you are an adult. What choices you have to get there. My mother says all she wants for my brothers and I, is to get the best education we can, to prepare us for a better life.
When I was 3 years old, my mother put me in preschool. She felt I was advance for my age and that school would be fun and entertaining for me. It was because I enjoy playing with my friends. Pre-school kept me busy and I learned a lot before I started preschool.
I went to a Catholic private school for elementary and the only I liked about that school was religion. Most of my teachers were okay but sometimes I did understand my teachers and I felt like I was not learning at the right level. I felt that private schools did not have all the service needed like one on one tutoring or many other programs that the LAUSD offered.
I went two different high schools. First I went to an alliance school. I think that they are good schools but I do not like how strict there rules are. There academics are very good, well I thought they were pretty demanding. If you fall back in any grade it is really hard to catch up. My mother liked the school but she did not like some of the rules that the alliance school offered. That is why she transferred me to West Adams; I feel less pressure here because LAUSD offers different courses to help your grades.
My goal is to graduate and go to a university. I would like to experience the college life. I am not sure what I want to be as an adult but I do know whatever it is I will try to do all in my power to be perfect in it and enjoy it. I know academics plays a major rule in it.

What is an american?

It is great thing to be an American girl. It is nice that in America there is freedom. There are many different definitions for the word American. To Michel-Guillaume Jean de Crevecoeur an American was a strange mixture of blood from different nations. A new man with religion and different laws. I am proud to be an American because I have freedom of speech, religion and to live in the world of opportunities.
To be an American girl I have the freedom of speech. If I disagreed on something, I would be able to give my personal opinion in regard to the subject. It would count and matter, not like back in the old days, when a woman’s word was not allowed nor was it excepted nor did it mean anything. All a woman was good for was to be a housewife, who takes care of the house, food and the children. I am glad we have a right to education to become whatever I want to be as a good educated person.
In America there are many different religions. You have a right as an American to believe in whatever you want. People should not discriminate you against religion, yet ignorant people still do.
Many people have immigrated to America because it is known for the land of opportunities. My family is second American-Latino generation. My grandparents came from El Salvador, Mexico, and Guatemala. They came here for a better life style and they made the best decision for their families. I actually have an opportunity to go to college and I consider that a privilege. So if you ask me if I am proud to be American, my answer would be yes.
